Smash 2.0
28 January 2024
We, the members of Yi Yuva REC, orchestrated SMASH 2.0, a badminton tournament conceived as a fundraiser to support the visually impaired community in commemoration of Braille Day. Held under the auspices of the SPORTS vertical, the event unfolded on January 28, 2024, within the distinguished precincts of the LoveAll Badminton Academy at Moggapair. Featuring two competitive categories, namely men's doubles and mixed doubles, in which more than 150 players participated. The players exhibited exceptional skills, infusing the tournament with a high level of sportsmanship and intensity. In a moving tribute to our cause, the esteemed speaker for SMASH 2.0 was Mr. Anthony Samuel, a distinguished and visually impaired motivational speaker. His powerful words resonated with participants, spectators, and organizers alike, emphasizing the significance of unity and compassion towards the visually impaired community. Amidst the riveting matches, a thoughtful interlude incorporated engaging fun games and activities. This segment aimed to foster awareness regarding the daily challenges confronted by blind individuals, adding a profound dimension to our overall event. The champion's reward of Rs 1000 was given to the players who won the Over all Tournament and a reward of Rs 750 for the Runner-Up team in both the categories. As a token of acknowledgment, participation certificates were bestowed upon all of the participants, underscoring their contribution to this altruistic cause. The spirit of camaraderie was further elevated through the distribution of refreshments, creating a sense of unity among us. SMASH 2.0 not only showcased our sporting prowess but also served as a poignant platform for promoting compassion and understanding towards the visually impaired.
